Marketing Manager

4J Studios Ltd has been best known in recent years for developing the global phenomenon Minecraft for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo consoles. The team is now immersed in the creation of brand-new games for everyone to enjoy.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for managing all global marketing related activities for the Reforj game from 4J Studios. Assisted by a small team of people internally and external agencies, the successful candidate will launch and manage the Reforj marketing campaign on an ongoing basis. Reporting into the CEO of 4J Studios, the person will work closely with the internal studio team to ensure that all key stakeholders are aligned and fully contributing.

The role will be varied and includes but is not limited to:

  • Acting as the instigator and global owner of the Go-to-Market (GTM) plan for Reforj.
  • Planning, budgeting and execution of global marketing campaigns including PR, community management, media buying, social media and platform promotions.
  • Managing global product budgets effectively, ensuring all spend is signed off by senior management and within budget, while maximising delivery and impact on all titles.
  • Directly managing current internal marketing personnel including Community Manager. Community and social media management will form a major part of the marketing strategy in the initial stages, which will necessitate a significant involvement for this role.
  • Liaising closely with the senior leads in the development team at the studio to ensure two-way communication is always clear. Involving them in the planning process and creative execution to ensure accuracy and maximum impact and ensure they are fully aligned on the execution of marketing strategies.
  • Working closely with external and internal creative services agencies/teams on asset production and delivery to ensure timely and accurate marketing materials are in place for all stakeholders.
  • Managing all other external agency relationship (Community/PR, media buying etc)
  • Developing working knowledge of the global video game marketplace, retail landscape, consumer profile, marketing activity and pricing economics.
  • Working with other internal stakeholders to ensure that digital retail/platform needs, for PC and console, are well catered for and those relationships remain profitable and optimised.
  • Ensuring expert knowledge across key franchise titles and associated genres (including forecasting, key selling features, milestone delivery dates, demo ability, market and genre status and history, and any territory specifics and competitor titles).
  • Delivering post launch commercial reviews and re-promotion/life cycle strategies to ensure products reach or exceed targets.
  • Managing all marketing relationships with any third-party publisher if they are involved at some stage of the product life cycle.
  • Senior product marketing experience in a global organisation ideally within the video games industry or closely related entertainment industry. A minimum of 5 years marketing experience and a passion for video games is required.
  • Extensive experience of leading the launch campaigns of key entertainment brands, ideally video games and managing their ongoing life cycles.
  • Must be very hands on and detail oriented, possess good time management skills and be able to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrable record of delivering marketing elements to a quality level, by planned dates and within agreed budgets.
  • Experience working alongside digital entertainment platforms and community focused brands helpful.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Strong appreciation of entertainment product publishing and broad, in-depth and up-to-date product knowledge of the games industry is preferable.
  • Excellent presentation skills, to all types of audience.
  • Able to build and maintain strong professional and informal relationships within organisations and externally with members of the public.
  • Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Dundee, Scotland.
