Producer

Summary 

4J Studios Ltd, best known for developing Minecraft for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo games consoles with offices in Dundee and East Linton, Scotland, is looking for a process-oriented Producer with solid, proven experience in video games development. The successful candidate will serve in a leadership role on one or more original game titles, collaborating and problem solving with the discipline leads as well as the wider team. They will report directly to the studio Production Director and will be responsible for effective agile planning and delivery, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed constraints.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Primary point of contact for all project management issues on assigned projects. 
  • Running agile activities and optimising team effectiveness. 
  • Issue identification and root-cause resolution in collaboration with the team. 
  • Product ownership: conveying and driving the product vision while prioritising and de-risking deliverables of greatest value. 
  • Clear and concise communication within the team and across the wider organisation. 
  • Supplying actionable feedback on prototypes and game builds from the point of view of a player/end-user. 
  • Cultivating a positive atmosphere and healthy team dynamic. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to produce and launch high-quality video game titles. 
  • Knowledge of game development processes and project management methodologies. 
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, and presentation skills. 
  • The ‘soft skills’ to perform within a collaborative creative environment, working effectively with a wide range of talented developers. 
  • Detail oriented and highly organised. 
  • Awareness of latest industry trends and a passion for gaming. 

Useful Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Familiarity with common game development tools and project management apps such as Jira, Confluence, ClickUp, Azure DevOps etc. 
  • Good understanding of games-as-service and live operations; analysing KPIs and producing content roadmaps for live titles. 
  • Skilled PowerPoint or Keynote user comfortable presenting to senior management and external partners. 
  • Experience leading hybrid teams of onsite and remote teammates, outsourcers, and other external consultants/vendors. 
  • Successful coaching or mentoring of one or more industry professionals. 
  • Prior experience working with IP licenses. 
  • Comfortable working with 1st party console certification requirements and launching games on digital marketplaces. 
  • Practical experience using Unreal Engine. 

Preferred Education & Experience 

  • University degree preferred or demonstrated through portfolio or credited titles an industry standard level of professional video game production or project management experience.  
  • Graduate of an academic video game programme and/or professional internship.   
  • 3+ years of experience in the game development industry as a producer and/or product owner. 
  • 2+ commercially released game titles on console, mobile, VR/AR/XR, or PC. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.  
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Dundee or East Linton, Scotland.
